Underwater Treadmill for Dogs

BENEFITS AND OBJECTIVE OF THE THERAPY

The hydrotherapy as part of the physiotherapy is used for the treatment of diseases and impairments in the musculoskeletal system with muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones and joints as well as rehabilitation after surgery.

The treatment with water is effective and gentle because the buoyancy reduces the dead weight in the water and at the same time the training effects are increased by the pressure of the water.

The therapy basin can also be used for the performance improvement of healthy dogs.

TECHNICAL FEATURES

Many of the therapy basins introduced on the market also strive for the therapy objectives offered by the PHYSIO-TECH Aqua Therapy Treadmill; however their design is of a more complex nature, it requires a much greater floor space and demands a higher technical understanding in terms of the operation and maintenance by the user.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PHYSIO-TECH AQUA THERAPY TREADMILL:

  • SMALLER DIMENSIONS AND A LOWER NET WEIGHT results in easier installation in the veterinarian practice without the need for structural alterations.
  • EASE OF OPERATION AND EASE OF MAINTENANCE require less technical knowledge on behalf of the operator. The mechanical design permits the removal or reinstallation of the treadmill with a one hand movement without the need to remove screws and other attachments.
  • ECONOMIC WATER CONSUMPTION. The PHYSIO-TECH Aqua Therapy Treadmill consists of two chambers: a water storage tank and the therapy basin which contains the treadmill. Both are connected to each other by a water pump. The water level can be adjusted in a short Time to the respective animal size. The water pump is equipped with a soil filter that filters hair and pollutions up to 50 mµ. This cost saving feature makes it possible to re-use the water several times.
  • HIGH GRADE MATERIALS ensure lifelong durability and simple maintenance. Only high-grade materials are used for the construction of the therapy basin to ensure lifelong durability and simple maintenance. The basin is manufactured of high-grade steel with a brushed surface. All cogwheels and the cam rollers are made of reinforced plastic (POM).
In the front side of the basin is an access door to allow for easy entry of the patient. The door has a scratch-resistant mineral glass for observation of the patient during the therapy. A non-skid rubber mat can be attached to the access door during entry and exit of the patient.

  • THE TREADMILL

The treadmill is of a very rugged and gripping design to prevent slipping of the animal. lt is designed extremely flatly and it is attached directly to the bottom. This keeps the water consumption to a minimum in respect to the size of the dog. An additional advantage of this design is to allow for a maximum of height inside the basin to apply the therapy. Thus small and big dogs can be treated in the therapy basin equally well, while also small dogs can be handled conveniently from above the basin.

The treadmill is fitted accurately to size to cover the entire bottom of the basin so that no protective cover is needed at the front and at both sides to avoid possible hazards to the animal. Only at the rear side a cover sheet is attached to cover the gears and to lock the treadmill into position.

    THE DRIVE MECHANISM

The treadmill is powered by a robust motor that guarantees stable movement of the treadmill even with very heavy dogs. The motor is a geared motor equipped with a frequency converter for variable speed regulation and it is mounted outside the basin. No complex safety provisions are needed as it is the case with a motor mounted inside the water basin. This technical design allows for a convenient upright positioning on removal of the treadmill during maintenance work.

A remote control is provided to switch the motor on and off and to continuously regulate the speed of the treadmill. The complete system is operated through a control cabinet equipped with an FI switch and 230V main power. For safety reasons a good visible emergency shut off switch is mounted at the therapy basin.

    POSITIONING AND INITIAL OPERATION

Positioning and initial operation of the therapy basin is straight forward: only a 230V power outlet, a connection to the main water supply and the sewer as well as a floor coven suitable for a damp location is required. The minimum floor space required is approx. 1.60 m by x 2.00 m (this includes space required for easy entry/exit of the dog).

The water protected control cabinet is mounted at the wall and connected to the power outlet by a plug.

THE TREADMILL IS AVAILABLE IN TWO SIZES

  • In the Regular Size version of the therapy basin dogs can be treated up to the size of a normal German shepherd.
  • The XXL Size version permits the therapy of extremely large dogs, such as Great Dane or Irish wolfhound.
  • REGULAR SIZE THERAPY BASIN

    Dimensions:
    Length: 1.40 m
    Height: 0.90 m
    Depth: approx. 0.90 m

    XXL SIZE THERAPY BASIN

    Dimensions:
    Length: 1.60 m
    Height: 1.10 m
    Depth: approx. 1.00 m

Both therapy basins, XXL and Regular, can be equipped with several options.

The standard equipment consists of only one glass window in the front door of the regular sized therapy basin.

The XXL sized therapy basin has the large window in the front door and one small window in the right side. To enable the comfortable treatment of very small dogs the standard version can be equipped with a Treadmill Elevation. The Treadmill Elevation is standard equipment in the XXL version.
